Bells

Bells is a short piano duet inspired by the bell ringers of Guildford Cathedral, which I lived next to for a year. It’s a minimal piece, centred around a simple motif which is explored at various speeds through the first half of the piece, and later reversed in the second half.

My main memory of the church bells is being woken up by them, which is why it was my aim to write a piece which in some way induces adrenaline in the listener.
